Dave Acosta is the founder and the driving force behind the YouTactical project. He is also the inventor of the ASRVFIST (the only fully armored rescue vehicle in the US specifically built to go into buildings during Active Shooter events). Dave started his career in law enforcement in 1992 in North Las Vegas. He had the opportunity to move from patrol to SWAT where he excelled as an operator (point man) and a regional instructor.
In 2000 he made the jump over to King County Sheriff's Office in Seattle under Sheriff Dave Reichert. In 2003 he started a non-profit officer survival school (NFOST) and enjoyed immediate success, conducting training contracts across the US for local and federal law enforcement agencies. In 2004, two recently retired Navy SEALs, whom had founded the highly respected military contracting company, SOC-SMG, invited Dave to work with their company in Bagdad Iraq. It was the start of a long and accomplished career as a military contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan. The learning curve was sharp, but some amazing men mentored Dave and got him up to speed quickly. He went on to be a team leader on protective service details (PSDs) in some of the most hostile environments in the world.
When Dave was not on a contract, he was conducting high level protection operations for private parties doing business in austere environments. Dave has trained law enforcement tactical teams and high level protection details all over the world. He has been a security consultant for heads of state and billionaire businessmen. He has also collaborated with some of the top experts in the US on mass shootings and has developed a progressive active shooter response program for businesses and schools. Through the YouTactical program Dave has created a network of like-minded professionals who are all committed to sharing their experience and knowledge with citizens who want to be better prepared for any crisis.
